Great Vacation!

We stayed in one of the cabins at Loughman Lake Lodge in April of 2006, I can not say enough about the place. It was wonderful! The room was great sitting right on the St. Johns River we saw lots of gators and according to the waitress’s at the restaurant the resident bald eagle right from our room windows. We ate at the restaurant and enjoyed the live band with a few cold beers. I can not wait to go back not only was the place wonderful but the hospitality was unbeilivable.

Great Family Fun

At the beginning of 2005 Loughman Lake Lodge was purchased by two local gentlemen who have renovated the entire place. We stayed in one of the four newly renovated cabins, it was a magical experience, there is a full service bar, a restaurant serving food such as frog legs, catfish, and gator tail. They also offer airboat rides. The scenery is just gorgeous with natural florida wildlife all around you including gators, bald eagles, and deer and the fishing was great. I would recommend it for families as well as couples.

Very cool location!

Based on Scott Joseph’s (Orlando Sentinel Restaurant Critic) article on fish camps in the area, we tried this place.  We were pleasantly surprised at the large, clean facility in the middle of nowhere.  The food was quite good.  We tried the catfish (very crunchy breading), the gator tail (great), fried okra (great), 5 bean soup with corn mufins (good).  Upon entering the restaurant we spotted a small gator under the bridge where you walk in.  When we got ready to leave, one of the emplyees asked my kids if they wanted to hold a baby gator.  To my surprise, they said yes.  It was so cool.  It’s much better than Black Hammock and worth the drive!
